The Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) held the 10th sponsor institutions joint meeting in Shenzhen on February 13, 2009.
In respect of new problems and new opportunities aroused from the breeding and sponsoring of small and medium-sized enterprise (SMEs) who plan to go public, the meeting aims to exchange experiences in breeding and sponsoring in a bid to push and raise the sponsoring quality and improve the quality control system and the continuing supervision mechanism.
Chen Dongzheng, director of the SZSE, and Zhong Congjiu, chairman assistant of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) delivered speeches at the meeting, which was chaired by Song Liping, general manager of the SZSE.
The real economy in China is being battered by the global financial turmoil, especially the SMEs are facing great difficulties and challenges, the meeting said.
The financial support offered to SMEs should not be limited to loans and guarantees, while the more urgent need is a capital platform that can bolster the growth and long-term development, because the leverage, guide and lead functions of multi-layered capital market are indispensable, it said.
The meeting urged sponsor institutions to set up a screening mechanism catering to innovative enterprises’ needs to lay a foundation for the development of multi-layered capital market.
Sponsor institutions should pay greater attention to the establishment of the share quotation and transfer system and shore up the advancement of technology enterprises in high-tech parks, the meeting said.
Sponsor institutions, a critical part in capital market, should actively participate in the setup of financial support system for SMEs and integrate financial innovation resources, it said.
The sponsor industry has a prosperous future. Sponsor institutions should maintain a positive attitude amid the global financial fallout, it added.
The SZSE unveiled the results of excellence sponsor institutions for SMEs board in 2008 at the meeting and held an award ceremony.
The best sponsor institutions for SMEs board in 2008 were granted to Guangfa Securities, Guosen Securities and Ping’an Securities.
Haitong Securities, Huatai Securities, China Merchants Securities, Citic Securities and Lianhe Securities were awarded excellence sponsor institutions for SMEs board in 2008.
Sponsor innovation awards for SMEs board in 2008 were given to UBS Securities, Hongyuan Securities and Shenying Wanguo Securities.
More than 200 attendants including representatives from sponsor institutions, lawyers and principals from accounting firms participated in the meeting hosted by the SZSE.
