| Earlier, the 7th “March 15 online consultation on investors’ rights protection” was jointly kicked off by Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE), Shenzhen Branch of China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation Limited and Shenzhen Securities Information Co Ltd, aiming at promoting the know-how of securities investment and protecting investors’ legal rights. The campaign was once again held on the online investor communication platform of SZSE in the wake of the online consultation of “December 4th Law Promotion Day”. The SZSE launches the platform on its official website in an effort to communicate with investors directly. It is noted the SZSE will held such online communications regularly in the future in a bid to enhance communication with investors and better protect investors’ rights. Investors actively participated in the online consultation, posting more than 800 questions in the two-hour campaign, up 50 percent from a year earlier. Due to the time limit, nearly 500 questions were unable to reply during the campaign. However, experts continued to answer those questions when the campaign was over. How to file claims and protect investors’ rights is the hot topic on the platform. Investors seek advices on questions like how to file a claim to listed companies or respective person, what to do if consultancy companies refuse to return member fee and deposits when their recommendation of stocks result in losses, how to confirm rights in historical legal shares, and what to do when board secretaries or securities representatives declined to pick up the phone or answer questions. A lot of investors called the SZSE after the campaign, hoping to have more chance to communicate “face-in-face” with experts from the SZSE. To meet this end, the SZSE compiled the selected Q&A of the 7th “March 15 online consultation on investors’ rights protection”. Moreover, the SZSE plans to held online investor communication every month or every two month in a bid to better serve investors and protect investors’ legal rights. In recent years, the SZSE has been paying great effort in investor education and investor services, taking it as the beginning of fulfilling its social responsibility. Raising the response efficiency of claims from investors, especially small and medium investors, has becoming a key goal of SZSE’s investor services. Up to date, investors can communicate timely with the SZSE through channels including service hotline, mail box, online communication, stock investor call center and lawyer team. Figures showed the SZSE answered over 9,400 hotlines, replied around 1,300 emails and mails, handled about 1,000 complaints and received 26 batches of investors’ visits in 2008. In the near term, the SZSE will launch the short message platform for investors to communicate with investors in a more convenient way. In addition, the SZSE adopts multiple ways to conduct investor education and investor services, such as investor education column in the big three securities newspapers, investor service hotline column in the Securities Times, daily TV series – Securities Classroom - SZSE Reminds You in the Trading Day, investor hotline feature in the Huaxia Voice of China National Radio, virtual securities school on the SZSE’s website and the electronic service platform for investors education.
